Scholarship
The Georgia State Florists’ Association (GSFA) is your source for keeping up to date in the floral industry. As professionals, it is our responsibility to learn of new products, new ideas, new trends, and how to make these a reality for our customers.
At the GSFA annual convention the are many programs including hands-on programs offered for a fraction of the cost of going to hands-on programs offered for a fraction of the cost of going to school. Also, during the convention these are three (3) major scholarships awarded to deriving members of the association.
The purpose of GSFA scholarships is to educate florists so the quality of floral work in Georgia will continue to be some of the most outstanding professional work in the country.
These competitions for scholarships are open to all members of the Georgia State Florists’ Association. The rules and regulations are set forth by the scholarship committee and approved by the GSFA Board of Directors.
The Clearance Memorial Scholarship
This scholarship is awarded for $1000.00 to be used at any school of the recipient’s choice that is elated to the floral industry and must be used within the year received. Click here to download the application.
The Wholesalers Scholarship
This scholarship is awarded $500.00 to be used at any design school or class related to the floral industry and must be used within the year awarded. Click here to download the application.
The B.J. White Certification Scholarship
This scholarship is awarded to a member of the association desiring to receive their Georgia Master Florist certificate. GMF tuition to all classes and a set of books are awarded. Click here
The Delorice Wooten Scholarship
This scholarship is awarded in honor of Delorice Wooten by her family and Delorice’s Florist. This scholarship awarded for $500.00 is to be used for educational purposes related to the floral industry and must be used within the year awarded. Click here to download the application.

GSFA Scholarship Program
This scholarship program was introduced at the Georgia State Florists’ Association Convention at Callaway Gardens, Pine Mountain, Georgia, on March 2, 1986.
Purposes
The purpose of the scholarship program are:
- To upgrade the present skill, and to develop new skill, of florist of Georgia.
- To encourage more active participation by individual florist at the district and stat levels.
- To promote high floral standards, thereby strengthening the status and advancement of the floral profession.
Rules and Regulations
- The scholarship program is open to any paid active District and Sate member.
- The winners will receive up to $1,000.00 scholarship to attend a floral school of their choice, subject to approval of the Scholarship Committee.
- The applicant will be interviewed by the judges named by the Scholarship Committee.
- The Applicant shall compose a written essay explaining why they should be awarded scholarship.
- The applicant shall submit at least two (2) letters of recommendation from employer, wholesaler, teacher, or professional associate.
- Schools selected by the applicant must be approved by the Georgia State Florists’ association Scholarship Committee. These schools are not limited to Georgia Schools.
- The Scholarship Committee may choose not to award the scholarship if they feel no applicants are qualified.
- The Completed application form must be received by the Committee fifteen (15) days prior to the Convention by mail. Each applicant will be notified that their application has been received.
- Each Applicant will be responsible for his or her own personal convention expenses.
- Each Applicant must be present for a personal interview on the assigned day and time which will be provided prior to convention.
Qualifications
Any Georgia florist is eligible to apply who:
- is a PAID, ACTIVE DISTRICT AND STATE member for 12 months PRIOR to the current convention.
- has not received a GSFA Scholarship in the past five (5) Years.
- desires to pursue a planned program of study.
- is willing to give their time and energy to promote the Florist Industry in the Stat of Georgia per the recommendations of GSFA.
